TRAMA:
2044 la Terra sta andando verso la desertificazione e l'umanità lotta per la sopravvivenza in un ambiente divenuto ostile. La razza umana coesiste con i robot, creati per supportare la condizione di una società in declino. L'agente assicurativo Jacq Vaucan (Antonio Banderas), che lavora per una società di robotica, la Roc Robotics Corporation, indaga su androidi difettosi. Durante una delle sue indagini scopre che alcuni robot si sono evoluti, diventando una possibile minaccia per l'umanità.
